Boys Top Names The biggest noticeable difference between girls names and boys names
is the fact that popular boys names remain largely constant over a long
period of time unlike popular girls names that change by the year. James was in 4th place from 2002-2005 but dropped to 6th for 2006, being replaced by Oliver which has been growing in popularity (10th in 2002, 6th in 2003, 7th in 2004, 5th in 2005). In 2006 Harry was 5th (also on the up); William was 7th having been between 9th and 7th for the past five years; Samuel was 8th (having been as high as 6th in 2002, but 7th in 2005); 9th came Daniel which is heading down; but new in is Charlie which has been rising remarkably quickly, for a boys name, from 29th in 2002.
