Burns Night

The birthday of the great Scottish poet and balladeer is assumed to be 25th January and on that night, all over the world, people have anything from a quiet evening reading his poetry to a full Burns Supper.

In theory Burns Night is for the Scots but it has been adopted by anyone with even the pretensions of being Scottish, and pretty much anyone else who wants a pleasant evening.

In this section, you can find the background and influences of his life, love and politics, together with details of the famous Burns Night celebration and that famous and often-used (also on New Year's Eve!) that only a few people seem to know properly!
