Introduction
There are personal events which are life-changing, and perhaps one of
the most important is getting married. It is human nature to celebrate
the longevity of such events yearly as the same date comes around again
each year. And this is why the wedding anniversary is such an institution.
It might be argued with a certain cynicism that the celebration is a
"wow, they made it to another year" – a view which becomes
less "surprised" as the years go on.
Hence the early years seem more important, and later only the major landmarks
are noted. Until once past the fifty years the surprise comes back –
the surprise that they are both still alive.
But without the cynicism celebrating something happy is a good thing.
So with that in mind we have details of the various celebrations for wedding
