Holidays > accommodation > NoosaSituated on the North East (top right!) of Australia, Noosa really is a beautiful place to visit. Because the Noosa residents have over the decades seen fit to do their bit to preserve their natural environment, the result is that they still live in an area of outstanding natural beauty, clean air and unpoluted river and water ways. It has attracted world wide note, with New York Times travel supplement describing it as "that appreciates nature and the good life" in 2002 and Sir Richard Branson purchasing Makepeace Island as a staff retreat / training centre.Noosa is around 875 square kilometres, with around 35 percent being National Parks, Forests, lakes and other pleasant and wild areas. Thanks to careful planning, the population is 'capped' at just over 60000, so that there is no excess development pressure, which will help keep the place as beautiful as it is now. The resepect shown for nature, also spills over into urban life, with
a lack of multi storey buildings, traffic lights (almost, they only have
two!) and parking meters, giving a less stressful city life to town inhabitants.
Current law prevents building over four storeys, which has also prevented
over development.
