Baby shower History

The baby shower doesn’t really have much of a history as it’s a relatively new event. It originated in the USA and spread first to English-speaking countries and then to others.

The Jewish tradition in particular does not (and won’t) have baby showers as it is considered bad luck to give gifts to the unborn child.

There is a tradition among the Hindu for an event similar to a baby shower, where gifts are given in the seventh month.
