May day USA

May day is seen, internationally, as the day for the working classes and probably originates with the Chicago strikes on May 1st, 1886, in the struggle for an 8-hour day.

Six workers were killed in Chicago and the following day a bomb killed eight protesters in Haymarket Square. The police arrested anarchist trade unionists and given a show trial that found them guilty and would have done regardless of the truth.
