Red Light, Green Light (Also called "Sneak up on Granny")

Age range:
Young kids, Kids

Events:
Birthday party, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Halloween, Easter

Location:
Indoor, Outdoor

You will need:
A big space. Lots of kids. A supervising adult.

How to play:
One player is chosen as It and stands at one end of the big space facing...
All the other players standing at the other end
The It player turns his back and shouts "Green Light!", at which time the other players can move towards him
The It player turns back, shouting "Red Light!" and if he sees any player moving he shouts their name and they must return to their starting position.
This continues until a player manages to reach the It player and touch him without being seen to move.
The supervising adult adjudicates disagreements.

Variations:
1. Players spotted as moving are out.

2. Some sort of toy, like a Teddy Bear, is placed at the feet of the It player. The other players have to attempt to get the Teddy Bear and take it back to their start line. But it has to be returned if the It player can see any part of it and the whole group goes back to the start line. This builds teamwork.
