Love Poems

Bird Song
Sing me a song that is simple and pleasing
Sing me a song that just wont go away
Send me a song bird who's singing is easing
Easing me through all this long lonely day.

Make it a love bird and make it so brightly
Make it a bird with a song soft as yours
Teach it to taunt and to haunt and delight me
So spirit will fly as high as song soars.

Teach it so wisely to follow and flutter
Whisper and murmur some song you have sent
Teach it and send it your love for to utter
Utter to me to your love in torment.

AGAIN
I loved you for that flame of yours
Before we wed, and even then,
For many years the wood endures
Though clogged with ash
And even when
The smokes of men,
Coiled thick and dark like ochre oils,
To cloud the colours of our sky,
With sins and things of living's soils,
I loved you still,
Don't ask me why,
I can but try,
And try -
Again.

Sigh
The rose rose from her thorny nest
And dressed in velvet petals blessed
With dew that threw a pastel hue
Upon each diamond droplet to
The bright-eyed light of my
Wide-eyed wonder;
I and eye,
sigh.

Love
You love your love
With an embrace,
A face, a form, a feeling;

Some pray,
Some play,
Some gay,
Some say,

But all to love are kneeling!

Beauty
Beauty is a classic curve
A warming glow,
A fire,
Beauty is a phantom found
In flames
Of our desire!

LOVE
You love your love
With a warm embrace
A face
A form
A feeling

Some pray
Some play
Some gay some say
But all
To love
Are kneeling

All I can do
I cannot tell, I cannot tell the time,
I cannot say, I cannot say the sign,
I cannot read, I cannot read the rhyme,
I cannot weep, I cannot weep the wine.
I can tell, I can tell I love you,
I can say, I can say I love you,
I can read, I can read I love you,
I can weep, I can weep I love you,
All I can do
Is all I can to love you.

What is Love II
Love is a moaning, a groaning, a droning,
A relentless outpouring so boring like snoring!
Love is a creeping, a weeping, a sleeping,
A constant commitment to feeling one's being!
Love is a gripping, a ripping, a whipping,
A dutiful needing for feeding the bleeding!
Love is a chirping, a slurping, a burping,
A sensual sliding of riding and hiding!
Love is a flitting, a hitting, a splitting,
A lesson of burning, or yearning for learning!
Love is a lollipop lent for the licking -
I want it back - but to you - it is sticking!

For a Queen

So many colours to your soul,
So many sounds to sing
As down the ages it doth roll
From you to me to bring.

The golden girdle of the queen
Of amazons so bold,
Queen Hyppolyta is now seen
In you - again - in gold!
And singing deep of daring deeds
Of hunt and chase and catch,
My queen is with me sharing needs
That no one else may match!

Seven veils of Salome sweet
Are mine as gifts from you,
Princess of 'peace' who doth entreat
Only my head will do,
And so she weaves her rhythmic lure
With dusky dance and dare
And only she can give the cure
That only I can share.

Fantastic fables of the mind
Scheherezade has spun,
And every night I likewise find
You tell me every one;
The starlight of your eyes doth shine,
Your voice like watered silk,
Scheherezade now you are mine,
My bowl of moonlight milk.

And in my heart I hold the hoard,
The treasures of the nile,
And every night I climb aboard
The barge of your sweet smile!
Queen of the nile you come to me
With gems and dates and wine;
Oh cat like sphinx can you not see,
Queen Cleopatra's mine!

Still on your spirit travels,
O'er aeons of your lives,
But still your fate unravels
And back to me arrives!

Bright Helen of beleaguered Troy
Come leave your tower cold,
My love you are and not a toy
For kings to have you sold;
Your beauty is much more than war
Can wage and ever win,
My ships are launched for evermore
To save you from such sin.

Brave Guinevere, sad Guinevere,
The nightmare has it's end,
Your knight has come to bring you cheer
Your broken heart to mend,
Upon my steed I'll bare you far
To kingdom of content,
Where hate and greed can never mar
Our kingdom heaven sent!

Deep In the mists and murk's of time
I feel your soft embrace,
Entwining reason with your rhyme
In Eden face to face,
And there we share in innocence
A life of languid bliss,
The dawn of man's magnificence -
The first time we did kiss!

The blasts of bland reality
May sometimes scorch our skies,
And shriek out for 'normality',
That love like ours is lies,
But never heed the crows of death,
They're jealous of all life,
And die a little with each breath
Of loving man and wife!

Fair Helen, famed Scheherezade,
Salome or sweet Eve,
What e'er your form I am your guard
And from you will not leave,
So many colours has your soul,
So many sounds to sing,
And through the ages it will roll
To me your love to bring!

For all these things you are to me,
In spirit if not form,
Each life a drop of swirling sea,
A rain drop in the storm;
And as the waves and currents flow,
Do swell and swoop and slide,
One thing forever you must know -
You'll always be my bride!
