Miscellaneous poems

The Last Fag
The last fag
And no matches
You try rubbing sticks
But no fire catches
You're in the middle
Of nowhere
In the middle
Of night
No one to ask
Have you please
Got a light!
So, you wait for
The morning
You wait for
The sun
And hope with
The dawning
That he
Will have one!

Memorandum
Reduced so many times,
Falsely redeemed,
My self, a sigh forgotten,
Dreams...

If you, aware of more
Than, "so it seemed",
Your self the why
For what it means.

Consider this -
Consider all a lie,
Insist that only what once was
Now is.

Repeat this lesson learned,
Then try,
Without forgetting, to forget
What is.

The very art of thought
Is caught by bait,
Set long ago,
And yet too late.

For all the creatures
Netted by the mesh
That fret and thrash -
Are creatures of the flesh.

And such as they,
Such creatures fade,
As pictures or as passions,
All thought-made.

And there behind the eye,
The cunning globe,
Behind the mind, the lie,
Pre-frontal lobe.

There sits the King,
The God, The Fisher,
Forgetting what once was -
A simple wisher!

Hype
The years they rock and roll on by,
From 'Teds' to 'Lucy in the Sky',
From Rock the Clock to Acid high,
From Blue suede shoes to bare-faced lie,
And like a clock the scene repeats,
The music man hands out his sweets,
The discoteque of trick or treats
To keep the 'young ones' off the streets;
The pap, the crap, the thigh and slap,
The faded jeans and old man's cap,
The hot guitar and leather strap,
The heavy metal, blues and rap;
The fine young figures, fancy free,
Loaded with youth's gadgetry;
Yes, here's a hero you can see,
For a price - so pay the fee!

The Artist paints, the writer writes,
Musicians orbit their own heights,
And while the dreamers dream delights,
Someone sells their copyrights!

FREE INSULTS
Insult 1:

You have a brain
Analogous to
An abacus
Without beads.

Insult 2:
If skin can be
So soft and white
As snow,
And hair,
A Raven's wing,
So black and sleek;
What made you
A Thrush
In slush?

Insult 3:
You chose your words with Wisdom -
Norman Wisdom;
An ageing comic
Famous for being an idiot!

OOGIE THE BOOGIE
Oogie the Boogie
Made noises like "bleep",
Like, "burgle and gurgle",
Or "google and gleep",

He made up these noises
So he could then sleep,
He said it's much better
Than counting on Sheep!

CHOCOLATE
Yummy
Chunky
Chocolate
Chunky chunky
Chunky chunks
Of nutty
Chocolate
And milky silky
Brown and glossy
Thick and sweet
And sticky sickly
Chunky chunks
Of chunky
Chocolate
Nutty fruity
Maximus gluttony
Soft to finger
Taste to linger
Little squares
Of
Chocolate.

Cats
Felines, fur and fury and refined
Coils of coolness, calm, reclined,
Are these creatures, so combined,
Soft and ruthless intertwined,
Black or white - how e'er designed,
How are they in fact defined?

Felines, lapping, licking, sleek,
Pink tongued, yawning, whiskered cheek,
Pad-pawed predator, unique,
Cat and mouse, play hide and seek,
Hunch-arched, spitting, lightning streak,
Mouse no more - no more squeak!

Felines, dining, dozing, dream
Of milky lakes and mountain cream,
Meaty mouthfuls, fishy steam,
Stretching limbs so lithe, they seem
To flow on oil, a silent scream
Of feline form, content, supreme!

Man-Child-Memories
Have you ever or never stroked a baby's cheek,
Abloom in a room on a sultry night,
Or ever forever in your minds eye, a peek,
Seen yourself as the child, so loved at sight.

For I am the lover, the glower of heat,
The radiant giver, caressing my kiss;
My child the receiver of every beat
Of a heart that is beating in bantling bliss.

And I too, am the loved, the tended and kept,
The delicate yearling, so sweet and secure;
How often as each, man or child, have I slept,
And with love, so receive it, and life, so ensure!

Daylight and Later
The centre of the sun, it is singing;
Flick you your tongue in coronal, gold fires,
In feathers of heat that arise like birds.
Taste the wine of a sunrise staining
The drained chalice of earth, raised to your lips,
And drink now the radiance of another smile.

You laugh and spread your daylight dancing,
In the ballroom forests, the termite ghettos;
In the bathrooms of the air, to splash,
With golden taps turned on full blast;
Of explosions, orgasms of the eye,
Bright, beautiful genesis of the mind.

The edges of all are unwinding now slowly;
The kitten of night plays tag with the ball,
That has rolled into orbit around your legs,
And finally rests, taunting the green-eyed beast
That purrs, or roars, to confuse the prey -
And later you pray - when night pounces forever!
