In an effort to produce poems for all occasions, we have written you a few erses below which you are welcome to use (please ask before copying to another site). Please let us know how you get on.

For a new sister...
Little Angel
So small, and so delicate
A little flower newly born

She knows only herself
But she will love
And grow
And blossom

So loud, and so annoying
A little tearaway newly come
To terrorise her brother
But she will blossom
And grow
And love.

For any sister...

To My Sister
------------
Though we often had our differences
Though often fought and yelled
Though parents always despaired of us
Though we argued and rebelled.

Though I stole your toys and broke them
Though we'd never apologise
Though you stirred my hurts and woke them
Though we'd always criticise.

Though we'd never say "I love you"
Though we'd never say we cared
Though I thought I was above you
Though you never gave nor shared.

Still. If someone ever came between us
If some other than I, hurt you
If the pain overcame or hurt you
Then I'd always be there for you.

For a deceased sister

This poem is dedicated to the author's eldest sister and was written when she died a few years ago...

A Gap in Life
-------------
Before you were gone
We remember how you filled
Your space and ours,
With a zest that blazed
And a love that burned
With gentle fire.

At first we could not accept
The gap that you once filled.
It seemed you remained
And we were shocked each time
We came across that gap in life
Where we expected you to be
And you were not.

There may come a time
That the hole that was you
Will slowly fill
And the rest of the world
Will seep into the void
That you left
When you went away.

And the pain of the memory
Of that gap you left,
Will only be a memory.

But now, there is a gap in life
That once you filled.
And until the world seeps in
We will remember how
You brightly filled
Your gap in life, and ours.
