Our resident poet

Biography of 'our poet'.

Poetry is so important, we just had to have our own poet for the site. Our very grateful thanks fo to Steven Langley, who continues to contribute so much to our web site. Click here for his web site.

Steven Ronald Langley arrived in 1951, the year of the rabbit, and was raised in the warrens of London. However, after 18 years sojourn in the suburbs of the South East, he set off to seek fame and fortune – but found the seven seas instead.

After some years in the Merchant Navy, circumnavigating the globe several times, and getting first dizzy and then bored, he returned to beloved Blighty. He spent a further year hitch-hiking around Europe with a sleeping bag and empty pockets, taking in the sights and sounds of terra firma. By 1977 he had settled down but still hadn’t found his fortune, but fortunately had found his muse. He also spent some years in further studies of Life, the Universe & Everything based in the wooded wealds of Sussex following the practical and philosophical works of L. Ron Hubbard.

During the last twenty years or so he has experienced the weird and not so wonderful world of Hollywood, the surreal citiscapes of Florida, as well as an "interesting" year in Zimbabwe where, incidentally, his beautiful wife gave birth to the fourth of their five children.

He is a prolific poet and has been writing poetry of all styles, serious and humourous for many years reflecting his travels and experiences. He has been published widely in poetry magazines across the UK and abroad, and is a regular reader at poetry festivals throughout the year.

He now lives in Manchester, the vibrant capital of North West England, with his wife, youngest child and Biggles, the beagle.
And yes, he does support the all-time greatest footbal club ever...
